Books from my Childhood

Swallows And Amazons

Classic adventure story - guaranteed to have you signing up for sailing lessons!

Mossflower (Red Fox older fiction)

Talking mice, otters, badgers and all manner of woodland creatures - it's Farthing Wood but better.

The Steps up the Chimney (Magician's House Quartet)

Pure escapism :-)

Duncton Tales: vol. 1 (The Book of Silence)

First of an epic trillogy covering faith, religion and good versus evil. As fascinating to read now as it was when I was a child.

Five on a Treasure Island (Famous Five)

I've put this one in to represent every single Enid Blyton book. Maybe not very PC these days but these books more than any gave me my sense of adventure.

Hunter's Moon

Another talking animal book! Not sure if this is for kids or adults, but it's certainly worth a read.

Essential Modern Classics - The Hobbit

Join "barrel rider Baggins" on his adventures, getting a sneak peek in to the world of Middle Earth and the mind of Tolkien, ideally before the movie is released!
